AJ Karim is an experienced criminal lawyer with extensive experience in trials, appeals and matters before tribunals and commissions.

AJ Karim’s experience at the bar focuses predominately on Criminal trials including sexual assault trials, serious violent assaults, serious drug, dishonesty and property offences.

He also has extensive experience in hearings, sentencing and bail applications before the Local Court.

As well as the above he has an appellate practice in the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal. Notably, AJ Karim has also appeared in matters before the NSW Crime Commission and ICAC.

AJ Karim is a highly regarded past lecturer, of the Law Faculty, at the University of Technology Sydney. He taught extensively in evidence law and sentencing law for a period of 4 years [2009-2013]. He was also solely responsible for designing the subject “Criminal Sentencing Law” for the University.

Many of his students are now practicing in the area of Criminal Law.    

March 2016, he was invited to present at an international law conference held in Fiji.

Immediately prior to being called to the Bar, AJ Karim held the position of senior solicitor with the Aboriginal Legal Service NSW/ACT. ​
