Background
Alexander is an experienced advocate and appears in a wide variety of courts and tribunals. He specialises in criminal, administrative, and regulatory matters. He appears led and unled in the Supreme, District, Local and Children’s Courts in New South Wales and is available to appear in regional and remote Courts across New South Wales and interstate.
Prior to coming to the bar, Alexander practiced in New South Wales as a solicitor for the Aboriginal Legal Service (NSW/ACT), the Environmental Defenders Office, and the New South Wales Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. He has experience appearing in Local Court sentences, bail applications, hearings and applications under the Mental Health and Cognitive Impairment Forensic Provisions Act. He has also appeared in numerous appeals and has instructed Crown Prosecutors in trials and special hearings in the District Court.
In the Northern Territory, Alexander practiced as a solicitor at the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency and as a Crown Prosecutor in the Alice Springs Office of the Northern Territory Director of Public Prosecutions. In both roles, he frequently appeared in summary hearings, bail applications, and sentences. As a Crown prosecutor, he appeared led and unled in Supreme Court jury trials. He also appeared in sentences, breach proceedings, and bail applications.
Alexander holds a Master of Law (International Criminal Law) from Leiden University, which he received summa cum laude, as well as a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws, both from the University of Sydney.
