Background
David specialises in criminal law, with a particular focus on serious and complex criminal matters. He regularly appears in proceedings involving State and Commonwealth offences and has experience in conducting jury trials, sentence proceedings, summary hearings, bail applications, appeals, and applications for mental health diversion.
Prior to being called to the Bar, David was a senior solicitor at a criminal defence and traffic law firm. There, he appeared as advocate and instructing solicitor in a range of serious and complex matters, including murder, drug supply and manufacture offences, sexual assault, firearm offences, fraud, and serious violence offences. This experience informs David’s practical and strategic approach to advocacy.
In addition to his criminal law practice, David accepts briefs in related areas, including asset confiscation proceedings, parole matters, disciplinary and regulatory proceedings, coronial inquests, commissions of inquiry and workplace health and safety matters.
David is a member of the Legal Aid NSW Summary and Indictable Panels and accepts briefs in both metropolitan and regional courts.
