James accepts all briefs with a particular focus on criminal law including serious indictable white collar crime, sexual offences, personal violence, money laundering and others at trial, on bail applications, hearings, sentences and other related proceedings.

James also accepts briefs to appear before the NSW Crime Commission, Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, State Parole Authority, Serious Offenders Review Council, the Drug Court, tribunals and commissions of inquiry.

Prior to his call to the Bar, James was a senior solicitor in private practise with a focus on serious criminal trials in the Supreme Court and District Court, defended hearings in the Local Court and instructed in criminal appeals to the High Court of Australia, the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal and Queensland Court of Appeal. James also represented clients in tax litigation, civil proceedings against the NSW Crime Commission, review of industry license refusals before NCAT and review of decisions made by parole and Corrective Services.

James was conferred with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours), Bachelor of Arts (with Distinction) and Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.

James is a member of the Legal Aid Criminal Law Indictable Panel and accepts briefs in regional and metropolitan courts.
