Background
James accepts all briefs with a particular focus on criminal law including serious indictable white collar crime, sexual offences, personal violence, firearms, money laundering and others at trial, on bail applications, hearings, sentences and other related proceedings. James has appeared led in appeals to the full court of the High Court of Australia and the Court of Criminal Appeal.
James also accepts briefs to appear in non-criminal proceedings including intentional torts, Commonwealth and State proceeds of crime proceedings, parole and other tribunals and commissions of inquiry.
Prior to his call to the bar, James was a senior solicitor in private practise predominantly engaged in criminal trials and appeals but also in proceeds of crime and tax litigation, industry license refusals and parole.
James was conferred with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours), Bachelor of Arts (with Distinction) and Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
James is a member of the Legal Aid Criminal Law Indictable Panel and accepts briefs in regional and metropolitan courts.
