Background

Maddison’s principal area of practice is common law with a particular interest in medical negligence, public liability and intentional torts including boundary violation claims.

 

In 2025, Maddison appeared for New South Wales Health and New South Wales Ambulance in the inquest into the deaths at Bondi Junction on 13 April 2024. Maddison was lead by Mr. Hilbert Chiu SC.

 

Prior to being called to the bar, Maddison was an Associate at Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers and worked for both plaintiffs and defendants across a range of complex medical negligence and public liability claims.

 

Maddison has a health care background as a previously registered nurse in operating theatres. Maddison’s medical experience affords her the knowledge required to comprehend technical aspects of a case.

 

Maddison’s academic interests have focused on the topic of medical/health law. During her time at university, she completed her honours thesis on the topic of informed consent.
