Background
William has more than 15 years’ experience as an advocate. Prior to being called to the Bar, William was employed as a solicitor for the Aboriginal Legal Service NSW/ACT Ltd in Western NSW, a senior solicitor for the Legal Aid Commission (NSW) and a senior solicitor for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (NSW).
He is an experienced trial advocate and brings the ability to analyse, prepare and present a case with the benefit of a background in both defence and prosecution.
William has extensive experience across the criminal jurisdiction including jury trials, appeals, sentence proceedings, release applications, and matters dealt with under mental health legislation in both the NSW and Commonwealth jurisdictions.
As a former Legal Officer holding the rank of Captain (Army), William has experience in administrative law and workplace disciplinary matters. He has been briefed in matters before the Independent Commission Against Corruption, Law Enforcement Conduct Commission and NSW Crime Commission.
William accepts briefs to appear in courts across NSW including regional and remote courts.
